Air conditioning repairs that actually fix the fault

Refrigerant leaks, failed capacitors, blocked coils and dead PCBs — we find the underlying cause instead of topping up gas and hoping.

Introduction

Cooling specialists in Melbourne

A system that cools poorly is rarely just low on refrigerant. Refrigerant doesn't get consumed; if the charge is low, there is a leak, and topping it up without finding that leak wastes your money and vents gas to the atmosphere.

RapidFix Solutions carries electronic leak detection, digital manifolds and clamp meters on every van. We measure superheat and subcooling, test electrical draw against manufacturer specification, and give you real numbers before and after the repair.

What we do

  • Repairs and servicing for split, multi-split, ducted and evaporative systems
  • Electronic leak detection, pressure testing and correct refrigerant charging
  • Compressor and inverter diagnostics
  • Fan motor, capacitor and contactor replacement
  • PCB fault-finding and board replacement
  • Indoor coil, barrel fan and filter deep cleaning
  • Performance testing and airflow balancing

Multi Split Systems

Fault-finding across multi-head systems where one head fails while the others run, including branch box and communications diagnostics.

Common faults

  • One head not cooling
  • Communication errors between heads
  • Uneven performance across rooms

Every head performing to spec from a single outdoor unit.

Ducted Air Conditioning

Ducted refrigerated system repairs including zone motors, controllers, plenum leaks and outdoor unit performance.

Common faults

  • Weak airflow at the far outlets
  • Zones stuck open or closed
  • System tripping the circuit breaker

Balanced, quiet whole-home cooling with responsive zoning.

Evaporative Cooling

Roof-mounted evaporative cooler servicing — pads, water distribution, pump, float valve, drain and belt or motor faults.

Common faults

  • Blowing warm air
  • Water overflowing on the roof
  • Musty smell through the outlets

Cheap-to-run cooling with fresh air and no stale odours.

Reverse Cycle Systems

Year-round heat pump servicing covering both cooling and heating modes, reversing valve faults and defrost operation.

Common faults

  • Cools but won't heat
  • Reversing valve stuck
  • Poor performance on extreme days

One reliable system that performs in both January and July.

Commercial Air Conditioning

Packaged units, rooftop plant and small VRF systems for offices, retail and hospitality, with planned maintenance agreements.

Common faults

  • Comfort complaints from staff
  • Plant running 24/7
  • Repeated after-hours failures

Stable conditions for staff and customers with predictable costs.

Cassette Systems

Ceiling cassette repairs including condensate pump failures, filter and swing flap faults, and access co-ordination in apartments.

Common faults

  • Water staining the ceiling tiles
  • Pump alarm shutting the unit down
  • Flaps stuck in one position

Discreet, even cooling without ceiling damage.

Ceiling Concealed Units

Bulkhead and ceiling-concealed fan coil servicing, static pressure checks and duct connection repairs.

Common faults

  • Noise transmitting through the bulkhead
  • Reduced airflow
  • Condensate backing up

Quiet operation and full rated airflow restored.

Common problems

Symptoms and what usually causes them

Cooling but not cold
Low charge from a leak, dirty coils or a failing compressor valve.
Outdoor unit not starting
Failed run capacitor, contactor or an isolator that has been switched off.
Ice on the pipework
Restricted airflow, blocked filters or an undercharged system.
Water leaking indoors
Blocked condensate drain, dirty coil or an incorrectly set drain fall.
Unpleasant smell
Biological growth on the indoor coil and barrel fan — resolved with a chemical deep clean.
Breaker tripping
Compressor drawing high amps, insulation breakdown or a fan motor short.
Preventative maintenance

Keep it running, avoid the callout

  • Wash indoor filters every 4–6 weeks during heavy use
  • Book a professional service each spring before the first hot spell
  • Keep at least 500mm clear around the outdoor condenser
  • Run the system on fan-only for 20 minutes before shutdown to dry the coil
  • Replace evaporative cooling pads every 3–5 years

Why choose RapidFix Solutions

Licensed, insured local technicians who quote before they work, carry common parts on the van and explain exactly what failed. We service Melbourne homes and businesses six days a week, with emergency attendance available after hours.

Our process

How a RapidFix job runs

01

Book & triage

Tell us the brand, symptoms and address. We ask the right questions up front so the correct parts are on the van.

02

On-site diagnosis

A full electrical, mechanical and performance check — not just the obvious fault. You get a plain-English explanation.

03

Approved repair

We quote before we work. Nothing is replaced without your say-so, and we use manufacturer-approved components.

04

Test & handover

Performance tested, readings recorded, work area cleaned, and maintenance advice so the same fault doesn't return.

Residential services

Whether it's a single bedroom split system or a fully zoned ducted install, we work cleanly, protect flooring and furniture, and leave you with the performance readings from the repair.

Commercial services

Offices, cafes, gyms and retail tenancies rely on us for planned maintenance and rapid breakdown response, including after-hours work so trading hours aren't affected.

Before & after

Pump and float valve replaced, pads renewed, cool supply air restored at every outlet.

What our customers say

Trusted by Melbourne households and businesses

Reviews collected from customers across the northern, western and eastern suburbs.

5.0 average from Google reviews

Our ducted heater dropped out on the coldest week of the year. RapidFix came the next morning, found a failed ignition probe and had the house warm again before lunch.
Daniel M.Pascoe Vale
Two split systems serviced and one re-gassed. Clear pricing up front, drop sheets down, and they showed me the pressure readings before and after.
Priya S.Brunswick
Our under-bench fridge failed on a Saturday. They talked us through keeping stock cold, arrived within a few hours and replaced the condenser fan on the spot.
Marco D.Coburg
Washing machine wouldn't drain. Honest advice — a pump repair instead of pushing us into a new machine. That's why we keep their number.

FAQs

Cooling questions we're asked most

Why does my air conditioner need re-gassing?

Strictly, it shouldn't. A sealed system doesn't consume refrigerant, so low charge means a leak. We locate and repair the leak, pressure test, evacuate and then charge to the manufacturer's stated weight.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

Annually for residential systems and every six months for commercial or heavily used equipment. Regular servicing typically pays for itself in reduced running costs and avoided breakdowns.

Can you clean the mould smell out of my split system?

Yes. A proper deep clean involves removing the covers and barrel fan, chemically treating the coil and drain tray, and flushing the condensate line — not just spraying an aerosol through the vents.

Do you work on commercial systems?

We do. Packaged units, rooftop plant, cassettes and small VRF installations, with scheduled maintenance agreements available.
